As part of the Amnesty event "Get On the Bus", we protested at JP Morgan, a major holder of Dow shares. 22nd Bhopal Anniversary on Boston Common
From 12-2pm, we rallied on Boston Common behind Park St. to remember those who have died and call for justice and assistance to those who are still sick and dying daily in Bhopal, India site of the 1984 Bhopal Chemical Disaster. About 40 people attended the rally, we heard from Klare X. Allen who organizes opposition to the Boston University Biolab which is being built in a high density community of color in Boston despite the fact that it designed to test incurable disaeses such as hemorrhagic fever and anthrax. The Bhopal campaign is symbolic of exactly why such facilities should never be built in highly populated areas, certainly not in dense, poor, communities of color. We asked State Street Bank to vote yes on an important shareholder resolution for Bhopal as well before the day was over.
